The North Dakota Horse Park would like to announce an amazing 12 race card for Saturday, August 22nd. In an era where most tracks have had difficulty finding enough horses to have 6 horses per race for only 8 races, the Horse Park, thanks to the support of the horsemen of the Upper Midwest, will play host to a full night of 12 races with a full field of 10 in most of the card. The Horse Park plans an early post time for Saturday of 4:00pm and will be moving horses quickly in order to be finished racing by sunset. “We are just amazed by the support our horsemen have shown us by bringing so many horses here” said General Manager Heather Benson. “We broke our record for horses in the barn and I have no doubt we will once more rank in the top 10 Nation-wide for field size (amount of horses per race), a honor we held in 2007.” Over 400 horses currently reside at the Horse Park with dozens of additional horses that ship in weekly from Minnesota, Manitoba, Montana, Nebraska and even Wisconsin. Each race is limited 10 horses and with so many horses available, the North Dakota Horse Park has seen many full or overfilled races. “This is what a racetrack likes to see” said Racing Secretary James Smith. “We always want more horses rather than less and right now, we could easily have 15 races per day if we had the daylight for it! We have had some races have 17 or 18 horses enter, a ‘problem’ that every Racing Secretary likes to have.” |
