History of the North Dakota Horse Park

The North Dakota Horse Park started as a dream and collective vision between several groups and entities in the Fargo area. Over the past seven years, the North Dakota Horse Park has been turned into a reality as one of the Upper Midwest's premier racetracks and equine sports facilities.

Today, the North Dakota Horse Park sits on over 110 acres along the northern edge of Fargo, North Dakota and has racetime stabling capacity for over 450 horses! Attendance also continues to climb, with over 2,500 patrons attending each day during the 2008 season!

2003
The dawn of a new day. The ND Horse Park answered the call to post for the first time. 41,725 people attended the races that year. Words to describe their experience were successful, exciting, amazing and marvelous.
2004
Moving forward after an explosive first year, the ND Horse Park extended its racing dates two weeks longer than the previous year.
2005
The year of fair style vending, covered gazebos and grand stands. Marketing strategies turned from only the horsemen to public, kids, businesses, looking towards a “Come one, come all!” attitude.
2006
Budweiser Clydesdales made their debut at the ND Horse Park. Did you know one Clydesdale eats 20-25 quarts of feed, 40-50 lbs of hay and 30 gal of water a day? Bet you’re glad your race horses don’t eat like that!
2007
Eight weeks of racing! Of course we had to have a birthday bash for the 5 year old ND Horse Park as well.
2008
Races were held from August 1 - September 7.
2009
With 16 days of live racing, attendance and overall handle was up significantly from previous years.
2010
The park takes a year off from live-racing to regroup and rebuild to ensure that racing can continue into the next decade.
